We’re always surrounded by light and darkness. For Corbin Dooley, after losing three significant people in his life to suicide, light was difficult to find. When journaling became a daily ritual to aid Corbin’s healing process, it soon evolved into songwriting and inspired him to explore his roots through a musical lens. It was the blossoming of his sophomore album, Western Trauma.

The founder and creative director of Bikiniwax Records now teams up with producers Babia and Phoseph on the release of a Remix EP inspired by the works of artists such as John Summit, Rüfüs Du Sol, Excision, Flying Lotus, Aphex Twin, Alison Wonderland, Bicep, Benoit & Sergio, Meat Katie and Uberzone.

The eight-track Western Trauma (Remixes) album takes Corbin Dooley’s heartfelt songs into an alternate interpretation of the pristine production originally created by six-time Grammy Award winning record producer, engineer and mixer Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White). The electronic renditions by Babia and Phoseph at times keep the flesh-and-blood original lush string arrangements, and at other times morph vocals into a percussive enclosure sent straight into a nineties club scene.

With an eclectic and evermore curious view of the music world, Corbin Dooley encapsulates his diverse music taste while reframing his own songs in an impressive mix of electronic and experimental music.
